Five Palestinians lost their lives due to Israeli military activity in Jenin within the past 24 hours, according to statements from the Palestinian Authority (PA). The deaths include a 60-year-old woman and contribute to the growing death toll resulting from one of the largest Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank in recent years. Another separate incident resulted in Palestinian security forces killing a man who was previously wanted for firing on a headquarters of their forces, a move sharply criticized by Hamas, which warned of "serious repercussions."
The latest deaths mean that over 30 Palestinians have been killed since January, when Israel initiated a significant military operation deploying thousands of soldiers into Palestinian cities and refugee camps in the northern West Bank. While many of those killed were identified as armed militants associated with Palestinian factions, a number of uninvolved civilians have also fallen victim to the ongoing violence.
Since the beginning of this military initiative, tens of thousands of Palestinian residents have fled their homes. Israeli troops have moved through refugee camps and urban areas such as Jenin, destroying infrastructure, roads, water pipes, and residential buildings. Israel has justified these actions by invoking their goal of dismantling militant groups supported by Iran, particularly Hamas and Islamic Jihad, who have established significant presences in densely populated areas that initially served as housing for Palestinian displaced from their homes during the 1948 Middle East conflict.
The intensifying military campaign has triggered international alarm. Countries including Germany and France, alongside global organizations like the United Nations, have voiced their concern about the scale and implications of the conflict, urging restraint from all parties involved.
Israeli military spokespeople confirmed that special forces exchanged gunfire with armed Palestinians barricaded in a house, killing two and wounding another. Separately, Israeli sources stated that another Palestinian who opened fire on troops was also killed. Palestinian reports stated that a 60-year-old woman was fatally shot by troops near a checkpoint, though the Israeli military has yet to comment on her death. Earlier, another Palestinian man was killed when his motorcycle collided with an Israeli army vehicle.
On the same day, further violence occurred outside Jenin. Armed Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian village of Umm Safa, near Ramallah, setting three vehicles ablaze, according to local village authorities. Additionally, 10 Palestinians were detained, and weapons were seized amid ongoing security operations throughout the area.

It seems like yet another attempt to portray Israel negatively while painting dangerous militants as helpless victims.

Tragic loss of life yet again—when will the international community say enough is enough?

Palestinian factions’ use of refugee camps as bases is precisely why these operations are unfortunately necessary.

Mentioning settler violence without context—like prior Palestinian attacks—is unfair and misleading.

Funny how the Palestinian internal violence mentioned is glossed over while placing blame solely on Israeli forces.
