Gondola Incident at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort
On Monday morning, a gondola at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, British Columbia, fell to the ground. The incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. and involved eight people aboard the gondola.
Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, the company that owns the resort, confirmed the incident and stated that their patrol team and first responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. Thankfully, no one sustained serious injuries.
A preliminary investigation suggests that a lift hanger broke while the cabin was leaving the bottom station, causing it to fall one meter. The resort is currently conducting a full inspection of the Golden Eagle Express gondola with the assistance of specialists from the manufacturer. The lift will remain closed until further notice.
In a statement posted on their Facebook page, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort announced plans to resume operations starting Tuesday. They expressed their gratitude to the first responders and their commitment to ensuring the safety of their guests and staff.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regular inspections and maintenance of ski resort equipment. While accidents can happen, it is crucial to prioritize safety measures to minimize the risk of injuries.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.

Always profits over safety. Why wasn't this issue caught earlier if they claim regular maintenance?

This resort needs better oversight. Patrons deserve better than excuses after an incident occurs.

Wow, scary situation. They should’ve acted before dumb luck was the only reason nobody was seriously hurt.
