Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun reaffirmed on Friday the Chinese government's strong stance against gambling-related crimes. Commenting on recent reports about a police operation in Manila, where Philippine authorities raided an offshore gambling facility, Guo emphasized China's consistent advice to its nationals overseas, instructing them to follow local laws and avoid illegal practices.
In Thursday's raid by Philippine police, more than 450 individuals were arrested, of whom 137 are Chinese citizens. Addressing this matter, Guo urged Philippine authorities to tackle the longstanding challenges associated with offshore gambling promptly.
Expressing China's readiness to cooperate with Philippine counterparts in cracking down on criminal activities, China's government also stressed the importance of impartial law enforcement in the Philippines. Guo emphasized that this approach is essential for effectively safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens abroad.

It's easy to condemn gambling offshore, but what about the corruption and social issues linked to gambling within China itself?

Hypocritical much? While China preaches against gambling abroad, they turn a blind eye to their own.
