China Dominates Day Three of Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games
The Chinese delegation had a remarkable Day Three at the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games, securing six gold medals and bringing their total medal haul to 21 gold, 18 silver, and 15 bronze. This surpasses their previous best record of 19 gold medals set at the Changchun 2007 Asian Winter Games.
Speed skating proved to be a gold mine for China, with three gold medals secured in the men's 500m, men's team pursuit, and women's 3,000m events. Gao Tingyu, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics gold medalist, continued his dominance in the men's 500m, setting a new Games record and successfully defending his title. He also won gold in the men's 100m sprint final, setting another Asian record.
The Chinese freestyle skiing aerials mixed team also achieved a historic victory, winning their first-ever gold medal in the event. Xu Mengtao, Li Xinpeng, Qi Guangpu, Chen Meiting, and Yang Longxiao put on a remarkable display, showcasing their exceptional skills and teamwork.
In snowboarding, China continued its dominance with Xiong Shirui and Zhang Xiaonan securing a top-two finish in the women's big air final. This was their second medal each, having previously won gold and silver in the women's slopestyle final. Chinese athletes Yang Wenlong and Jiang Xinjie also achieved a 1-2 finish in the men's big air final, further demonstrating China's strength in this event.
With the Asian Winter Games continuing until Friday, the Chinese delegation is expected to continue its impressive performance and strive for more honors in the remaining events.
