During a parliamentary session on Monday (Mar 10), Singapore's Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, Edwin Tong, clarified that no governmental subsidies were provided to organize Lady Gaga's forthcoming concerts. He addressed an inquiry from Member of Parliament Sitoh Yih Pin by explaining that Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM) directly took charge of all negotiations and agreements related to the event.
According to Mr. Tong, the discussions were conducted by KASM directly with Lady Gaga and her representatives, including the global entertainment group Live Nation. He reiterated that no government grants played any role in securing these performances, reaffirming that the arrangement was entirely commercial between the artist and venue management.
Additionally, the Singapore Tourism Board's (STB) leisure events director, Guo Teyi, highlighted Lady Gaga's concert as a favorable addition to the nation's vibrant entertainment calendar. Guo celebrated the success of local industry partners, attributing Singapore's ability to successfully host major international acts to its comprehensive entertainment ecosystem and world-class event infrastructure.
Guo further underscored Singapore's advantages, such as excellent connectivity within the region, robust infrastructure, and a variety of accommodations tailored to suit diverse visitor preferences. These elements collectively enhance Singapore's reputation and capabilities as a premier global venue for lifestyle and entertainment events.

This concert will only benefit the rich and well-connected. It's not doing anything for the ordinary people of Singapore.
