Al-Hilal's star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic missed training on Sunday due to an abnormal heart rhythm, the Saudi Pro League champions announced. This news comes after local media reported that the Serbian international had been taken to the hospital.
Mitrovic recently returned from a hamstring injury that had sidelined him since January. He marked his comeback with a goal in Al-Hilal's 2-0 victory over Al-Fayha on Friday.
"The medical staff has decided to rest Aleksandar Mitrovic from Sunday's training due to feeling fatigue and arrhythmias," Al-Hilal stated in an official statement. "He will be observed by specialists, and his case will be monitored constantly."
Al-Hilal, under the guidance of manager Jorge Jesus, is scheduled to face Pakhtakor in the second leg of their AFC Champions League Elite last-16 tie on Tuesday. This match follows a surprising 1-0 loss to Pakhtakor in Uzbekistan last week.
The Saudi club has not yet confirmed whether Mitrovic will be available for Tuesday's crucial encounter. The 30-year-old has been a prolific scorer for Al-Hilal this season, netting 13 goals in 14 Saudi Pro League appearances.

Mitrovic has been more in the medical center than on the pitch lately. Al-Hilal deserves better!

Mitrovic injuries and now a heart condition... He might not have much more to offer at this level.
