PLA Air Force's Bayi Aerobatic Team Heads to Thailand for Diplomatic Anniversary Celebration

On Sunday, the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force's Bayi Aerobatic Team set off for Thailand to participate in celebrations marking half a century of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand. As part of the festivities, the team will showcase their flying expertise through an aerobatic performance involving seven J-10 fighter jets. Their presence emphasizes the deep-rooted connections and friendly relations between the air forces of China and Thailand.

Head of the aerobatic team, Li Bin, explained that the jets will transit non-stop to Bangkok, a journey surpassing 3,600 kilometers. This significant long-distance operation will be facilitated by the YU-20, which is China's nationally produced large aerial refueling plane capable of mid-flight refueling, ensuring seamless completion of the extended route.

Team members stated that meticulous preparations have been undertaken to guarantee a successful performance. These preparations included on-site evaluations of the location's airfield, adaptation of their flight plan according to local conditions, and specialized training focusing on the specific environment of the aerobatic show.

This marks the 12th overseas demonstration flight by the renowned aerobatic team. Since its formation over 60 years ago, the Bayi Aerobatic Team has conducted more than 700 performances, entertaining over 700 delegations from more than 170 nations and regions around the globe.
