On Friday, several senior Justice Department officials were pushed out by the Trump administration, significantly affecting the ranks of experienced career staff who play key roles in guiding departmental operations. These recent dismissals particularly impacted lawyers responsible for managing critical domains such as pardon procedures, bankruptcy litigation, and various legal matters.

Additionally, the head of the Office of Professional Responsibility, the department's internal ethics oversight arm, was removed from his position and subsequently placed on administrative leave. These actions signify the administration's ongoing efforts to remove or reassign seasoned officials, sparking concern and widespread unease within the Justice Department.

Her dismissal letter, which she shared publicly, was signed by Todd Blanche, the department’s recently confirmed deputy attorney general, notably a former attorney who previously represented President Trump.
