New Zealand's top diplomat in London, Phil Goff, has been fired after questioning President Trump's grasp of history. Goff made the remarks during a panel discussion about Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Goff compared recent Ukraine peace efforts with the 1938 Munich Agreement, a pact between European powers that allowed Nazi Germany to annex parts of Czechoslovakia. He said that President Trump "has restored the bust of Churchill to the Oval Office, but do you think he really understands history?"
Goff's comments were met with criticism from New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters, who said that they "do not represent the views of the NZ government and make his position as High Commissioner to London untenable." Peters added that he would have fired Goff if he made the same remarks about any other world leader.
The United States has "paused" intelligence sharing with Ukraine after a dramatic breakdown in relations between Kyiv and the White House. Mr. Trump and Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a public falling out in the Oval Office last week, followed by the United States suspending crucial military aid to Ukraine.

It's time the US stopped supporting Ukraine. They are corrupt and don't deserve our money.

Good riddance to Phil Goff! He was an embarrassment to New Zealand.

Goff needs to learn his place and keep his personal opinions to himself.

Goff was right to question Trump's grasp of history. He's clearly out of his depth.

It's dangerous for the US to abandon Ukraine. We need to stand with them against Russia.
