Meghan Markle's "With Love, Meghan" Premieres on Netflix
Meghan Markle's new lifestyle series, "With Love, Meghan," premiered on Netflix on Tuesday. The eight-episode show features the Duchess of Sussex sharing entertaining tips and recipes with her famous friends, as well as working on her culinary skills with experts like Roy Choi.
One notable absence from the show is Meghan's husband, Prince Harry. He only appears briefly in the final episode, marking a shift from the couple's usual joint appearances, especially in their professional endeavors.
Meghan's Return to Lifestyle Roots
This separation makes sense for Meghan as she returns to her lifestyle roots. She and Harry began working together when they announced their engagement in 2017, which was standard for senior royals. They continued to brand themselves as a package deal in their early post-royal projects, like their first Netflix show, "Harry & Meghan."
However, their strategy has shifted in recent months. Harry has focused on philanthropic endeavors, attending events without Meghan, while she prioritizes her series and forthcoming lifestyle brand, As Ever.
Meghan's Solo Stardom
Stacy Jones, CEO of Hollywood Branded, believes Meghan's decision to make "With Love, Meghan" largely Harry-less was a smart move. She compares the show to other reality series that star women married to famous men, where the husband typically functions as a "prop" while the wife is the beloved star.
While Harry's royal lineage undoubtedly attracts viewers, keeping him off-screen allows Meghan to sell herself as an individual rather than just one half of the Sussex team. His brief appearance in the final episode serves as a reminder of their connection while allowing Meghan to shine on her own.
Traces of Harry and a Honeymoon Period
Although Harry isn't on screen much, traces of him are present throughout the show as Meghan discusses their family's favorite foods and routines. She also revealed that she and Harry are experiencing a "honeymoon period again" because of her work on the show.
Jones believes these traces of Harry can remind the audience that they are a unit even as they define themselves as individuals. This approach can also benefit Harry as he finds his post-royal identity.
A Step in the Right Direction
Meghan's appearance at the Invictus Games in February was seen as a step in the right direction. She seemed like Harry's supporter rather than the cohost of the games, even leaving early to return to their children.
While Harry and Meghan's professional lives will likely always be intertwined, their newfound distance will benefit them both as they pursue their individual passions and projects.

So, Meghan gets a cooking show now? Hard pass. Netflix is sinking lower every month!

I miss the days when Netflix produced high-quality content instead of royal fame exploitation.

Another show by Meghan Markle? Honestly, she's just desperate to stay relevant.

Netflix, please stop glorifying self-centered celebrity lifestyles. Enough is enough.

Meghan’s attempts to relate to average people feel forced and totally disingenuous.
