Vance Visits Texas, Pledges to Address Crisis Impact on Communities

A Tale of Two Administrations

Vice President JD Vance recently visited the southern border in Eagle Pass, Texas, offering a stark contrast between the border and immigration policies of President Donald Trump and those of the former administration.

Vance painted a grim picture of the situation under President Joe Biden, citing record increases in migrant crime, fentanyl deaths, and illegal border crossings. He accused Biden of empowering criminal cartels by opening the border, turning it into their "playground."

However, Vance also offered a glimmer of hope. He believes that securing the border doesn't require new laws, just a new president who empowers Border Patrol agents to do their jobs. He pointed to the significant decrease in border crossings in Eagle Pass, from 1,500 a day to 30 a day, as evidence of this approach's success.

Vance's visit also highlighted the stark difference in priorities between the Trump and Biden administrations. While Vice President Kamala Harris waited 22 weeks to visit the border, Vance made it a priority within his first six weeks in office.

The "border crisis under Biden" has had a significant impact on border communities, with local mayors still dealing with the budgetary consequences. President Trump has pledged to address these issues and help communities recover.

Since taking office, President Trump has taken swift action to reverse the border policies of his predecessor. He ended the catch-and-release policy, reinstated the "Remain in Mexico" policy, and discontinued the CBP One mobile application.

These actions have had a dramatic impact. In February, illegal alien encounters at the southern border dropped by 93% compared to the same month in previous years. Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement's monthly arrests increased by 627% under Trump compared to the last year of the Biden administration.

The U.S. government and Mexico have also committed significant resources to securing the border. Mexico has deployed 10,000 troops to its border with the U.S., while the Pentagon has sent an additional 3,000 active-duty troops and resources to the southern border.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard accompanied Vance on his border trip, emphasizing the need for coordination and partnership across government departments to address the crisis.

As President Trump has stated, "border security is national security." Both Hegseth and Gabbard expressed their commitment to using their resources to keep the American people safe.

Trump's rhetoric fuels division, not cooperation. These policies aren't sustainable.

Just more fearmongering and exaggerations to stir up division—there never are any real solutions, just finger-pointing.

Troop deployments at the border sound intimidating, but won’t solve real immigration issues.
