Trump's Speech Was "One of His Best," Democrats' Behavior Was "Belligerent" and "Disrespectful

House Speaker Mike Johnson had his hands full during President Donald Trump's address to Congress. Despite disruptions from Democrats, Johnson praised Trump's record-setting speech.

Johnson, speaking to conservative social media influencers, called Trump's speech "one of his best, maybe the best he's ever done." He noted that Trump could have spent even longer touting his accomplishments, as most presidents don't achieve as much in four years.

As speaker, Johnson was responsible for maintaining order among the 500-plus members of Congress present. He even had to call on the sergeant-at-arms to remove Democrat Rep. Al Green of Texas for disruptive behavior.

A CNN poll found that 80% of respondents viewed Green's interruption as inappropriate. Other Democrats also protested through placards, outfits, and walkouts.

Johnson said he had warned Trump about potential Democrat antics and they discussed how to handle disruptions. He urged Trump to ignore the distractions, as the Democrats' goal was to gain attention and disrupt the speech.

Johnson likened the Democrats' behavior to an angry town-hall meeting and expressed concern that such occasions might turn into "a UFC fight" if basic traditions are not respected.
