A Guest List Reflecting Key Priorities
President Trump's joint address to Congress on Tuesday evening will feature a guest list carefully chosen to reflect the administration's key priorities. These "everyday Americans," as the White House describes them, will serve as living examples of the issues Trump plans to address in his speech.
The guest list highlights the administration's focus on immigration and border security. Among the attendees are the families of Laken Riley, a nursing student killed by an unauthorized immigrant, and a 12-year-old boy killed by an illegal immigrant. Also present will be Stephanie Diller, whose husband, an NYPD officer, was killed during a traffic stop, and the family of Corey Comperatore, a firefighter killed during the 2024 assassination attempt against Trump.
The administration's stance on LGBTQ+ issues is also reflected in the guest list. January Littlejohn, a parent who sued a Florida school district for allegedly withholding information about her child's gender identity transition, and Payton McNabb, who claims to have suffered a brain injury while competing with a transgender woman in a high school volleyball game, will be present.
The guest list also reflects First Lady Melania Trump's policy initiatives around stopping bullying and supporting children. Haley Ferguson, a former foster child and Tennessee university student on a scholarship from Trump's Be Best organization, and Elliston Berry, a victim of deepfake cyberbullying, will be among the attendees.
Jeff Denard, an Alabama steel worker, and Marc Fogel, an American teacher who was freed from Russia last month, will also be present. Additionally, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is expected to watch the speech live.
During his address, Trump is expected to touch on a range of topics, including his domestic priorities, the recent pause of military aid to Ukraine, and the 25 percent tariffs against Mexico and Canada that took effect on Tuesday.

Focusing only on isolated negative incidents doesn't represent the broader immigrant community.

Disappointed they're still doubling down on tariffs despite harm to ordinary Americans and businesses.

Attacking the LGBTQ+ community under the guise of protecting children is misleading and harmful.

So much for inclusivity. This administration continues to promote intolerance.
