Texas-based media company iHeartMedia recently disclosed that it has settled its legal conflict with rapper Drake, concerning the alleged improper promotion of Kendrick Lamar's diss track titled "Not Like Us". Drake initially accused iHeartMedia in a legal petition filed last November of accepting illegal payments from Universal Music Group (UMG) to increase radio airplay of Lamar's controversial track. Both Drake and Lamar share UMG as their parent record label.
In its statement on Monday, iHeartMedia asserted that after providing documents demonstrating their innocence in the matter, Drake agreed to drop the allegations. The company further emphasized that no financial transactions occurred between the parties to facilitate the resolution.
Legal records filed in Bexar County, where iHeartMedia is headquartered, stated that Drake and the media company had amicably settled their differences last week; however, specific details of the agreement were not publicly disclosed. The resolution comes ahead of a scheduled hearing on Wednesday for a motion by UMG's attorneys aiming to dismiss Drake's continuing petition.
The ongoing lawsuit by Drake includes claims that UMG was fully aware that Kendrick Lamar's song included defamatory attacks against him. Drake's petition emphasizes that Lamar's track, along with associated album art and visuals, incorrectly portrayed him as a sex offender, damaging his character and reputation.
This feud between Drake, a Canadian award-winning rapper, and Kendrick Lamar, renowned for his Pulitzer Prize and prominent performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, stands as one of the most significant rivalries in recent hip-hop history.

Drake is just jealous of Kendrick Lamar's success. He's lashing out because he can't handle it.

I hope this lawsuit doesn't tarnish the reputations of Drake and Kendrick Lamar. They're both talented artists who deserve better than this.

This lawsuit is a waste of everyone's time and money. These artists should just settle their differences like adults.

I'm tired of all the drama in the music industry. Can't these artists just focus on making good music?

This lawsuit is long overdue. It's time for someone to hold UMG accountable for their unethical practices.
