"I Can Beat Them All" in 2028 Democratic Presidential Race

Stephen A. Smith, the ESPN pundit, has recently been making waves in the political arena. During a recent appearance on The View, Smith not only doubled down on his viability as a presidential candidate but also boasted that he would be the favorite in the Democratic field if he ran in 2028.

Smith, who has increasingly delved into political commentary in recent months, appeared on the ABC daytime talk show to promote his interview with former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo had used Smith's podcast to announce his candidacy for New York City mayor.

Speaking of Cuomo, who resigned as governor in 2021 amid allegations of sexual harassment and claims of underreporting Covid deaths in nursing homes, Smith insisted that Cuomo "has learned a lot and thinks he's coming back better than ever" in his mayoral campaign.

Smith argued that Cuomo's experience as a three-term governor who could have potentially secured a fourth term or run for president gives him a unique perspective on leadership. He also pointed to Cuomo's current lead in the polls as evidence of his strong candidacy.

The View hosts then questioned Smith about his recent criticisms of the Democratic Party following Donald Trump's 2024 victory. Smith has repeatedly boasted about polls giving him low single-digit support in the 2028 Democratic presidential primary.

When asked about these polls, Smith responded that he believes "citizens, particularly on the left, are desperate." He asserted that he could "beat them all" in a presidential election, despite acknowledging that he is not qualified for the position.

Smith argued that Trump's success within the Republican Party, despite numerous scandals and controversies, highlights the weaknesses of the Democratic Party. He claimed that the Democrats have strayed from their roots as the "party for the working class" and have lost touch with their base.

However, not everyone has been impressed by Smith's foray into politics. Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville has criticized Smith's political commentary, stating that he "don't know his a from a hole in the ground." Carville believes that Smith should refrain from discussing politics until he has a better understanding of the subject.

If Trump can win elections despite controversy, Stephen A.’s confidence isn't misguided at all.

Political strategists dismissing him so quickly just reinforces the idea that our political elite fear outsiders with fresh perspectives.

Stephen A. should stick to sports commentary—politics is clearly out of his league!

Smith boasting about single-digit poll numbers is laughable—this man is so out of touch.

Smith is right— the Democratic Party needs to reconnect with working-class voters and rethink its messaging.
