Vienna's Main Railway Station Evacuated Due to Unspecified Threat
Vienna's main railway station was evacuated on Monday afternoon due to an unspecified threat, halting trains for approximately 90 minutes. While the police did not disclose the nature of the threat, some Austrian media outlets reported it as a bomb threat.
This incident follows a series of similar empty bomb threats in Austria last year, which led to the evacuation of major stations and caused significant delays to train traffic.
After a thorough investigation, the police gave the all-clear shortly before 6 pm local time. National rail company OBB confirmed that trains were running again, although passengers were advised to expect continued delays and cancellations.
"Good news! Our trains are running again at Vienna main station. Please expect continued delays and train cancellations," OBB announced on its social media channels.
During the evacuation, the station was completely shut down, including all forms of public transport passing through it. Screens displayed messages urging people to leave the building immediately.
The incident caused significant disruption to travel plans, with many passengers stranded at the station or facing delays on their journeys. The OBB app had earlier stated that no journeys were expected to be possible until at least 6 pm local time.

Hopefully, whoever is making these threats will be caught and held accountable for their actions.

Bomb threats are not funny. They're terrorism, plain and simple. Whoever is responsible needs to be caught and punished severely.

This incident shows the importance of staying calm and cooperative in an emergency situation.

This is becoming a regular occurrence in Austria. It's making me afraid to even use public transport anymore.

I'd rather be delayed for a few hours than be caught in a potentially dangerous situation.
