China, Myanmar, and Thailand Repatriate Over 620 Chinese Nationals

Over 620 Chinese nationals involved in telecom fraud have been repatriated from Myanmar's Myawaddy region, according to China's Ministry of Public Security. This development follows a ministerial-level coordination meeting held in Bangkok on Friday between authorities from China, Myanmar, and Thailand.

The meeting focused on combating transnational telecommunications and online fraud. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and reached a series of agreements to strengthen joint efforts against these crimes. These agreements include deepening international law enforcement cooperation, intensifying crackdowns, and compressing the operational space for criminal networks.

The meeting represents a significant step forward in the joint law enforcement cooperation among the three countries in fighting transnational telecommunications fraud. The parties agreed to implement the consensus on joint crackdowns, establish a normalized coordination mechanism, and enhance information sharing. They will also continue repatriation efforts and strengthen law enforcement cooperation with other nations to safeguard regional peace and stability.

Repatriation is not enough. These criminals need to be brought to justice and face the consequences of their actions.

620 people repatriated? What about the thousands still trapped in those camps? This is just a PR stunt.

Questioning the effectiveness of these agreements if they haven't been implemented and enforced effectively in the past.

Worrying that these repatriated individuals might resume their criminal activities back in China.
