HomeTeamNS Servers Hit by Ransomware Attack
HomeTeamNS, a non-profit organization for national servicemen in Singapore, has confirmed that some of its servers were hit by a ransomware attack. The incident was discovered on February 25th, and the affected servers were immediately disabled and isolated from the organization's IT network.
The affected servers contained data of employees and former employees, as well as the vehicle details of some members and affiliate members. While there is no evidence of data extraction at this time, HomeTeamNS is closely monitoring the situation.
HomeTeamNS has contacted those who are affected to assist them with protecting themselves from phishing or unauthorized transactions, and to minimize the impact of this incident. The organization has also engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident and is working with the authorities on the matter.
As part of its remediation efforts, HomeTeamNS has changed the passwords of all its administrative accounts and further enhanced its network security with security scans and firewalls.
The organization emphasizes the importance of protecting its stakeholders' personal data and is working closely with cybersecurity experts, the police, and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore to investigate and remediate the incident.
CNA has contacted HomeTeamNS for more information, including the ransomware demands and the number of people affected by the attack.
