Manchester United's Premier League Ambitions Remain, Despite Struggles
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reiterated his commitment to winning the Premier League, despite the team's current struggles and criticism from former player Wayne Rooney.
United, who haven't lifted the league title since 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson, currently sit 14th in the table and were recently knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham. Despite these setbacks, Amorim, who joined the club in November, insists that winning the league remains the ultimate goal.
"I know we're losing games, but the goal is to win the Premier League again," Amorim told the BBC after Sunday's loss. "I don't know how long it will take. We have a goal and we continue forward no matter what."
Rooney, a five-time Premier League champion with United during his playing career, believes the club is far from challenging for the title. "I think it's a little naive to say they're looking to win the Premier League because from where they are now, they're a long way off that," he said on BBC's 'Match of the Day.'
Amorim acknowledged the challenges ahead but remained steadfast in his belief. "That is the goal. To be naive is to think we are going to do it this season or be the best contender next season," he said at the post-match press conference. "Maybe it is not with me, but our goal, as a club, is to win the Premier League like we did in the past with all the great glories and legends of this club."
United's next challenge comes in the form of a Europa League round of 16 tie against Real Sociedad, with the first leg taking place on Wednesday.

Another manager with ambitious talk and disappointing results. United is stuck in a vicious cycle of failure.

Stop living in the past. Ferguson’s era is over. Amorim won’t bring glory days back with these players.

Is Amorim serious? This team struggles against mid-table clubs. Premier League dreams? You're having a laugh!

Amorim is exactly the positive influence United needs. Believing in a goal is the first step towards success!

Amorim is absolutely right! Even if we’re not title contenders yet, strong ambition sets strong expectations!

Maybe Amorim should focus on winning a few games first rather than dreaming big.

Manchester United keep trying new coaches, but all we get is the same empty talk. Time for a change higher up maybe?

Rooney may be a club legend, but Amorim is right to keep goals high; you never achieve anything by aiming low.
