Civilians in Manipur Surrender Illegal Weapons
Following an appeal from Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and a joint public awareness campaign by the District Police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF, civilians and community groups in Manipur have begun surrendering illegally held weapons.
On Sunday, a total of 20 illegal weapons were surrendered to authorities in Imphal East, Bishnupur, Jiribam, and Imphal West Districts. This demonstrates a positive response to the ongoing efforts to promote peace and security in the region.
Manipur Police Arrest Individuals for Drug Possession and KCP Cadres
In separate incidents, Manipur Police arrested two individuals for possessing 20 soap cases suspected to be brown sugar weighing 828 grams. The arrests were made in the Senapati district, and a four-wheeler was also seized.
Additionally, two active cadres of KCP (PWG) were apprehended near the Imphal-East District. The accused were involved in transporting arms, ammunition, and extorting money from the public, private firms, and government officials. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession.
Security Forces Dismantle Illegal Bunker and Recover Arms Cache
Security forces dismantled an illegal bunker in the Kangpokpi District and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation in the Imphal West district. The recovered items included rifles, machine guns, grenades, and ammunition.
These actions by security forces and the surrender of illegal weapons by civilians are crucial steps towards maintaining peace and stability in Manipur.
