Israel Adopts European Standards for Imported Goods, Expanding Consumer Options and Lowering Prices
On March 1st, Israel implemented the third wave of its import reform initiative, "What is good for Europe Is Good for Israel." This reform allows a wider range of consumer products to be imported into the country according to European Union standards.
The Ministry of Economy and Industry expects this move to increase competition, improve product variety, and ultimately lower prices for consumers. Traditionally, Israel has maintained high quality standards for imported appliances. By adopting European standards, the government aims to reduce the cost of living for its citizens.

Not everything good for Europe is good for Israel. Our needs and climate are different.

This feels like a step backwards, not forwards. We should be striving for higher standards, not adopting someone else's.

This will give Israeli consumers more purchasing power.

This is just another way for big corporations to make more money, not help consumers.

We should be protecting our local economy, not opening the floodgates to foreign competition.

This is a sign that Israel is becoming more open to the world.

This is just the first step. Soon, we'll be adopting all sorts of European standards, losing our own identity in the process.

This feels like a sellout to foreign interests.
