Sergei Bobrovsky was the hero for the Florida Panthers on Saturday, stopping 23 shots for his 47th career shutout. The Panthers defeated the Calgary Flames 3-0, thanks to goals from Jonah Gadjovich and Evan Rodrigues in the second period.
Mackie Samoskevich added an empty-net goal with 3:52 remaining to seal the win for Florida. The Panthers have now won eight of their last 10 games and will face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday in a highly anticipated matchup.
Dan Vladar made 39 saves for the Flames, who have been shut out in back-to-back games for the first time since November 2019. Calgary will look to rebound on Sunday when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Panthers were without Matthew Tkachuk, who is still recovering from a lower-body injury sustained during the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.
In a heartwarming moment, the Panthers who are fathers had their children on the ice for the pregame playing of the national anthems. Bobrovsky smiled as he held his daughter near the boards, a departure from his usual stoic demeanor during the anthems.
Flames forward Ryan Lomberg received a standing ovation during his welcome-back video from the Panthers. Lomberg played a key role in Florida's Stanley Cup win last season.
The Panthers' first 11 goals since the 4 Nations break were scored by 11 different players. Samoskevich's goal late Saturday snapped that streak.

Vladar played his heart out for the Flames, but Bobrovsky was just too good tonight.

Samoskevich ending the 11-goal streak with his empty netter was a nice touch. Kid's got a bright future!

Two shutouts in a row? Great for Bobrovsky, but it's only the Flames. Let's see him do that against a real team.
