In a public gathering in Madurai coinciding with former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's 77th birthday, former minister Sellur K Raju alleged that the BJP and DMK have secretly teamed up over the three-language policy. Raju criticized political leaders Udhayanidhi Stalin and Annamalai, arguing that their conflicts are staged to mislead the public and distract them from more pressing issues.
He recalled the achievements during the AIADMK era, noting that the expansion in higher education institutions allowed Tamil Nadu students to excel, with many holding prominent positions at ISRO. Raju also mentioned initiatives led by former CM Jayalalithaa, such as distributing laptops to students and the recognition by figures like Mother Teresa, contrasting these with the current government's unfulfilled promises and rising prices, including steep hikes in rice, pulses, milk, and electricity tariffs.
Raju further questioned the DMK's initiatives, referencing controversial statements and unaddressed issues such as the safety of police officers and unresolved cases like the Vengaivayal overhead tank sewage contamination and the Anna University sexual assault case. He criticized the current administration for mismanaging funds and leaving systemic problems unsolved, suggesting that their promises are unrealistic while they continue to burden the public with rising taxes and external borrowing.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, in a video message, urged citizens to stand up against constituency delimitation and defend Tamil Nadu’s linguistic heritage. He stressed that these challenges not only undermine social justice and the state's self-respect but also compromise welfare schemes, calling for a collective effort to preserve the state's rights and identity.
