A joint team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police successfully rescued 11 labourers trapped in a flood at a construction site on the Ujh River in Kathua on Friday morning.
The labourers were working at a construction site when they were suddenly caught in a flash flood. The rising water levels quickly surrounded the site, trapping the workers.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team of SDRF and police personnel rushed to the spot. They immediately launched a rescue operation, using boats and other equipment to reach the trapped labourers.
After a challenging rescue effort, all 11 labourers were safely brought to shore. They were then taken to a nearby hospital for medical check-ups.
The rescued labourers expressed their gratitude to the SDRF and police teams for their prompt and efficient rescue operation. They also thanked the local residents who provided them with food and shelter during the ordeal.
The incident highlights the importance of taking necessary precautions when working near water bodies, especially during the monsoon season. It also underscores the need for effective disaster response mechanisms to ensure the safety of people in such situations.
