Trump's "Gold Card" Visa Plan Raises Concerns About Fraud and National Security
President Donald Trump's proposed "gold card" visa, which would grant lawful permanent residency and a pathway to citizenship for investors willing to shell out $5 million, has raised concerns about potential fraud and national security risks.
Lora Ries, director of the Heritage Foundation's Border Security and Immigration Center, expressed skepticism about the program's ability to prevent fraud, citing the widespread issues currently plaguing the similar EB-5 visa program. She argued that the higher price tag of $5 million might simply attract wealthier fraudsters and corrupt individuals.
Ries also raised concerns about the national security implications, pointing out that many potential applicants could come from countries that are not friendly to the United States, such as Russia and China. She emphasized the importance of thorough vetting to address national security concerns, espionage, and corruption.
The White House has not yet responded to requests for comment on these concerns.

I'm appalled that our government is considering this. It's a blatant disregard for the rule of law and the American people.

This is not the America I believe in. We are a nation of immigrants, not a country that sells citizenship to the highest bidder.
