International Support for Ukraine
Over 230,000 Canadians have signed a petition urging the House of Commons to revoke Elon Musk's Canadian citizenship. The petition cites Musk's actions as being contrary to Canada's national interests.
President Zelenskyy reported on the successful Support Ukraine summit, which saw participation from over 40 world leaders and heads of international organizations. The summit resulted in new support packages for Ukraine, including weapons, air defense systems, financial and humanitarian aid, investments in the defense industry, and additional sanctions against Russia. Zelenskyy emphasized the unwavering unity of those who value freedom and life, and the continued support for Ukraine in its fight for peace.
France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, oppose the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine. They believe such actions could deter international investors and weaken the EU's leverage in peace negotiations. However, Baltic and Northern European countries, along with Poland, the Czech Republic, and EU diplomacy chief Kaia Kallas, advocate for the immediate transfer of these funds to Ukraine.
A bipartisan group of US House of Representatives members expressed their unwavering support for Ukraine. They declared that Putin must not be allowed to succeed in his war against Ukraine and that Russia must be decisively defeated. Congressman Marcy Kaptur stated, "Lovers of freedom in our nation and the world bow their heads in awe before the courageous, long-suffering people of Ukraine. We feel and see their desire for freedom. We see their patriots fight again and again."
Former US President Donald Trump expressed his support for a deal with Russia to access rare earth metals. He stated his desire to purchase minerals from Russia and secure access to their rare earth metals.
