China Condemns Australia's Provocations in the South China Sea
A spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, Zhang Xiaogang, strongly condemned Australia's recent actions in the South China Sea, calling them deliberate provocations that violated China's sovereignty.
Zhang rejected Australia's claims that a Chinese People's Liberation Army aircraft engaged in an "unsafe and unprofessional interaction" with an Australian aircraft on February 11th. He accused Australia of deliberately infringing on China's rights and spreading false narratives by portraying itself as the victim.
"We firmly oppose this and have lodged serious representations with the Australian side," Zhang stated.
He emphasized that China's actions to expel the Australian aircraft were justified and lawful, undertaken in defense of its national sovereignty and security.
Zhang urged Australia to abandon its illusions and refrain from further actions with its naval and air forces. He warned against Australia playing the role of a "henchman" for other countries and stirring trouble in the South China Sea.
