China's Continued Support for Poverty Alleviation and Rural Revitalization

China has pledged to maintain its support for poverty alleviation and rural revitalization even after the five-year transition period dedicated to consolidating and expanding these achievements comes to an end. This commitment was made by Han Wenxiu, executive deputy director of the Office of the Central Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs, during a press conference.

Han emphasized that preventing large-scale relapse into poverty remains a crucial priority, not just for the transition period but also permanently. He pointed to the "No 1 central document" for 2025, which calls for establishing a mechanism to prevent poverty relapse and creating a categorized assistance system for low-income residents and underdeveloped regions in rural areas.

Based on a comprehensive evaluation of the five-year transition period, China will refine its support policies for low-income residents and underdeveloped areas. This includes strengthening social assistance for low-income rural populations, stimulating their internal driving force, and implementing targeted policy support for underdeveloped regions. The goal is to promote their revitalization and development, enabling them to catch up in the modernization process through mechanisms like collaboration between eastern and western regions.

This commitment to continued support demonstrates China's dedication to ensuring that the gains made in poverty alleviation and rural revitalization are sustained and expanded upon, leading to a more prosperous and equitable society.
