China's Agricultural Technology Innovation Guidelines for 2024-2028

The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has outlined ten key areas for agricultural technology innovation in the coming years, focusing on breeding new crop varieties, improving arable land quality, developing green and low-carbon agriculture, and promoting rural development.

Rapid soil testing technologies: This will support smart agriculture through a digital soil information system, a multidimensional soil monitoring network, and farmland evaluation and early warning platforms.

This will focus on controlling agricultural non-point source pollution, advancing climate-adaptive farming, and promoting ecological circular agriculture.

Efforts will focus on building a robust technology system for farmland conservation and restoring degraded land, including black soil and saline-alkali land.

This includes strengthening the protection and use of arable land and water resources, promoting clean agricultural production, and launching pilot projects in green and circular farming.

This includes improving rural living conditions, developing sustainable rural industries, and enhancing rural governance.

These models will be tailored to regional economic conditions in different parts of the country.

This will accelerate rural digital transformation.

The overall goal is to modernize China's agricultural sector and build a strong agricultural nation.
