At the 2024 World Manufacturing Convention in Hefei, east China's Anhui Province, visitors had the opportunity to photograph a model of the Origin Wukong superconducting quantum computer. This high-tech exhibit marked an important showcase for China's progress in quantum computing.
Origin Wukong, an independently developed third-generation quantum computer, has achieved a significant global milestone by receiving over 20 million remote visits. Users from 139 countries or regions have engaged with the quantum system, with particularly high levels of activity noted in the United States, Russia, Japan, and Canada.
Since its launch on January 6, 2024, the quantum computer has executed more than 339,000 computation tasks, benefiting a wide range of sectors including finance and biomedicine. The device is powered by Wukong—a 72-qubit domestically produced superconducting quantum chip—which underscores its advanced programming and practical deployment capabilities.
The machine’s name, inspired by the legendary Monkey King known for his ability to transform into 72 different forms, reflects the computer's versatility and robust performance in tackling diverse computational challenges.
