Dialogue, Negotiation, and Political Settlement
In response to a question about China's potential role in a peace agreement for the Ukraine crisis, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized China's consistent position on resolving international disputes through dialogue, negotiation, and political settlement.
Guo stressed that China is neither the creator nor a direct party to the conflict, but has not remained idle. From the beginning, China has advocated for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and negotiation. President Xi Jinping proposed four principles to prevent the crisis from escalating and restore peace.
China has actively engaged in diplomatic mediation, including forming the "Friends for Peace" Group with countries in the Global South. These efforts demonstrate China's commitment to finding a peaceful solution that reflects the international community's consensus.
Guo concluded by stating that China's proposals are objective, fair, rational, and pragmatic, reflecting a broad consensus within the international community.
