China and Brazil Aim to Deepen Cooperation and Promote Global Stability

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Celso Amorim, special advisor to the president of Brazil, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany. During their meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening China-Brazil cooperation and promoting global stability.

Wang Yi highlighted the significance of President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Brazil in 2024, which resulted in a series of important agreements aimed at building a shared future for both nations. He emphasized the synergy between China's Belt and Road Initiative and Brazil's development strategies, which has significantly boosted bilateral cooperation.

Recognizing their roles as major global powers and representatives of the Global South, Wang Yi emphasized the importance of China and Brazil working together to address global challenges and promote peace, stability, and development. He expressed China's willingness to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, advance cooperation in various fields, and uphold the principles of true multilateralism and the United Nations.

Amorim echoed Wang Yi's sentiments, emphasizing the significance of President Xi's visit and the deep friendship between Brazil and China. He expressed Brazil's commitment to working with China to accelerate the implementation of agreed-upon initiatives, build a fairer and more sustainable shared future, and safeguard international fairness and justice.

Both sides agreed to strengthen communication and coordination, deepen cooperation within the BRICS framework and between China and Latin American countries, and continue playing a constructive role in promoting a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis through the "Friends of Peace" platform.
