Singapore Prepared to Navigate Uncertainties, Says Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong
Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong addressed the nation on Saturday, February 22nd, assuring Singaporeans that the country is well-prepared to navigate the current global uncertainties. He emphasized that there is no need for worry or fear, as the government has been diligently preparing for such situations for a long time.
"We have good plans which will enable us to move forward with confidence," Mr. Lee stated during a speech at the Teck Ghee Education Merit Awards. "These plans encompass the year ahead, the years beyond, and even further into the future."
However, Mr. Lee acknowledged that the government cannot achieve this alone. He urged Singaporeans to remain united and rally behind the government's efforts.
The Senior Minister's address comes amidst a rapidly changing international landscape, particularly with the new US administration and its contrasting worldview. He highlighted the significant policy changes implemented by the US, which have substantial consequences for both the US and other countries.
"We cannot predict exactly how things will unfold and how it will impact Singapore," Mr. Lee admitted. "However, we can be certain that Singapore will face a significantly different environment in the future. We must be prepared to meet any eventuality, and that requires both preparedness and unity.
