Universities Across China Embrace DeepSeek AI in Education
Universities across China are integrating DeepSeek, a groundbreaking Chinese AI startup, into their curriculum. This move aligns with the government's initiative to foster scientific and technological innovation within educational institutions.
DeepSeek's AI models, DeepSeek-V3 and DeepSeek-R1, have garnered widespread acclaim from Silicon Valley experts and US tech companies, who consider them comparable to the most advanced models from OpenAI and Meta.
Several universities have already implemented DeepSeek-based courses. Shenzhen University offers a course exploring key AI technologies, security, privacy, ethics, and the balance between innovation and ethical norms. Zhejiang University has held special DeepSeek courses since February, while Shanghai Jiao Tong University utilizes DeepSeek to enhance AI learning tools. Renmin University of China has also integrated DeepSeek into various fields, empowering teaching, research, and campus operations.
This surge in DeepSeek adoption aligns with China's national action plan to become a "strong education nation" by 2035. This plan aims to establish a high-quality education system with accessibility and quality among the best in the world.
DeepSeek's founder, Liang Wenfeng, participated in a meeting with President Xi Jinping and prominent figures in China's technology sector, highlighting the significance of DeepSeek's contribution to China's technological advancement.
