China Cracks Down on Cross-Border Online Gambling and Scams with Thailand and Myanmar

China is actively collaborating with Thailand and Myanmar to combat online gambling and scams. This collaboration involves various measures to address both the symptoms and root causes of these issues, including preventing criminals from crossing borders. China is committed to protecting the lives and property of its citizens and maintaining order in regional exchanges and cooperation.

Chinese Assistant Minister of Public Security Liu Zhongyi recently met with officials in Myanmar to discuss efforts to crack down on cross-border internet scamming operations. Additionally, Liu traveled to Thailand to escort hundreds of individuals involved in scamming operations back to China.

These crimes have disrupted normal exchanges and cooperation between regional countries. The Chinese government is committed to fighting online gambling and scams, as it is essential for safeguarding the common interests of regional countries and fulfilling the shared aspirations of the people.

The Foreign Ministry will continue working with relevant authorities to direct Chinese embassies and consulates overseas to handle cases involving consular protection and assistance, ensuring the safety of overseas Chinese citizens and protecting their lawful rights and interests.

Deporting hundreds of people? Sounds more like forced displacement than justice.

This collaboration seems more focused on controlling information than fighting scams. Where's the transparency?

So instead of fixing the problems within China that lead to these scams, they're just exporting them to other countries? Seems like a cop-out.

Good to see China taking action against these online scams that prey on vulnerable people.

This is just a way for China to exert its influence over its neighbors. Not about stopping crime.

Why isn't China addressing the root causes of these scams, like poverty and lack of opportunity?

This feels like an attack on individual freedom. Should people have the right to gamble online if they choose?
