China and Australia Hold 23rd Defense Strategic Dialogue
On Monday, the Chinese Ministry of National Defense announced that the militaries of China and Australia had held their 23rd Defense Strategic Dialogue in Beijing. The dialogue was co-chaired by Xu Qiling, deputy chief of staff of the Central Military Commission's Joint Staff Department, and Robert Chipman, vice chief of the Australian Defense Force. Hugh Jeffrey, deputy secretary of the Australian Department of Defense, also participated in the dialogue.
The two sides discussed a range of topics, including bilateral military relations, regional security, and other issues of mutual concern. They agreed to strengthen strategic communication in the defense field, manage conflicts and differences constructively, and continue exchanges and cooperation.
This dialogue is the latest in a series of regular meetings between the defense officials of China and Australia. It is an important platform for the two countries to discuss their security concerns and to build trust and understanding.

This is a betrayal of our values. We should not be cooperating with a regime that oppresses its own people.

Australia should be standing up to China, not holding hands.

What a waste of time and money. This is just a talking shop for bureaucrats.

Dialogue is always better than conflict. This is a positive step for both countries.

Two-faced China pretends to be friendly while building up its military to threaten everyone in the region. Australia shouldn't be fooled.
