Following a significant earthquake in the region, local authorities in Dingri County, part of the Xizang autonomous region, have taken decisive steps to restore normalcy in the education sector. The government and education department have jointly crafted and executed a detailed plan to ensure schools are safe and ready for classes in the upcoming spring semester of 2025.
In response to the earthquake, experts conducted thorough safety assessments at three primary schools and 10 kindergartens. After identifying potential risks in three of the primary schools, authorities decided to transfer more than 1,400 students to facilities at the county seat to guarantee their safety while their regular schools undergo necessary adjustments.
To accommodate the displaced students, local planners have arranged the allocation of 36 classrooms and the construction of 125 prefabricated dormitories. Additionally, the initiative includes the establishment of three student canteens and 58 faculty dormitories, underscoring a commitment to address both academic and community needs during this recovery phase.
