In Beijing, the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress is scheduled to meet from February 24 to 25. The decision was made during a council meeting led by Zhao Leji, the chairman of the committee, where preparations for the upcoming sessions were prioritized.
During the late-February session, lawmakers are expected to discuss several important items. These include finalizing a report detailing the Standing Committee’s work, setting a draft agenda for the March session of the 14th NPC, considering a list of candidates for positions such as presidium membership and secretary-general, and reviewing a proposed list of non-voting delegates.
The agenda also covers legislative reforms and law reviews. Lawmakers will examine drafts related to promoting the private economy, proposals and revised drafts of civil aviation law from the State Council, and a report concerning the qualifications of some NPC deputies, along with other personnel-related bills.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed proposals concerning the recording and analysis of fiscal budget matters, as well as a report on how public complaints were managed by the NPC’s administrative bodies in 2024.
