Maharashtra to Build Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial in Agra
On the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the state government's plan to build a memorial dedicated to the Maratha king in Agra. This announcement came during a program held in Agra to commemorate the occasion.
Fadnavis stated that he would discuss the matter with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and acquire land for the memorial in Meena Bazaar, the site where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was once imprisoned. He envisioned a grand monument befitting the stature of the Maratha king.
Earlier in the day, Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, attended the birth anniversary celebrations at the Shivneri Fort in Junnar, Maharashtra. During his address, Fadnavis pledged to develop and remove encroachments from all forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He also announced the formation of a task force for this purpose.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde informed that the Maharashtra government has nominated 12 forts, including Shivneri, for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List. He highlighted the global recognition of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the inspiration his legacy continues to provide.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar emphasized the importance of preserving and developing the forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, acknowledging their significance as sources of inspiration for generations. He assured that the government would provide adequate funding for these efforts.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, born in 1630 at Shivneri Fort, is revered as one of the greatest warriors in Indian history. He established the Maratha Empire in western India in 1674 after challenging the Mughal rule. His legacy of valor, administrative acumen, and social justice continues to inspire people across India and beyond.

Another useless memorial project, instead of helping farmers, students, or the poor. Shameful!

This is an investment in our future and will inspire generations to come to be courageous and just like him.

Promoting divisive politics by building monuments in another state, instead of unity and development.

This memorial is long overdue, and it's commendable that the government is finally taking this initiative.
