In a press briefing following a joint session of the state committee, BRS working President KT Rama Rao accused the Congress government in Telangana of severely deteriorating conditions in the state over the past 15 months. He highlighted that a range of crises, including more than 400 farmer suicides and 50 student suicides at residential schools, alongside economic hardships experienced by auto drivers and real estate investors, have marked this period of governance.
Rama Rao emphasized the party’s focus on strengthening its institutional framework as it enters its 25th year. The session, attended by over 400 party leaders including district presidents, legislators, Members of Parliament, and former ministers, was used to chart a rejuvenation plan for its committees and to prepare for a series of year-long celebrations commemorating its Silver Jubilee.
Addressing media at Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao reiterated the party’s commitment to defending Telangana’s interests, describing the BRS as a political force born from the historical struggle for the region’s liberation. He criticized the Congress government for its failure to secure Telangana’s share of the Krishna River waters and warned that, should the government continue down its current path, the BRS would announce its own plan to protect state rights.
The party plans to hold a significant meeting of key representatives in Hyderabad in the second week of April, followed by a massive public gathering scheduled for April 27, with further organizational steps to be taken immediately to oversee the upcoming Silver Jubilee celebrations.

“Threats of announcing separate plans for state rights sound like political ultimatums. This won’t lead to cooperation or effective governance.”

“The party is trying to shift focus from their own shortcomings by exaggerating crises. Not buying it.”
