China and Britain Aim to Strengthen Ties and Collaborate on Global Issues
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during a visit to Britain, expressed China's willingness to collaborate with the country to further stabilize and improve bilateral relations. He conveyed greetings from President Xi Jinping to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, highlighting the positive momentum initiated by their meeting last year.
Wang acknowledged the fruitful outcomes of the recent China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue and the resumption of exchanges at all levels. He emphasized the immense potential for practical cooperation between the two nations and commended the Labour government's rational and pragmatic policy towards China, aligning with national interests and global trends.
He proposed deepening and expanding cooperation in infrastructure, trade and investment, clean energy, and other areas, aiming to benefit both populations. Recognizing the volatile global landscape, Wang stressed the importance of strategic communication and enhanced understanding between China and Britain as permanent members of the UN Security Council. He advocated for collaboration on key issues like climate change, artificial intelligence, and green development to contribute stability to the world.
Prime Minister Starmer reciprocated greetings to President Xi and acknowledged the positive progress in bilateral cooperation. He expressed his desire for continued candid and constructive dialogues to ensure the sustained and stable development of Britain-China relations.
Wang's visit also included meetings with British Prime Minister's National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell and co-chairing the 10th China-UK Strategic Dialogue with Foreign Secretary David Lammy. These engagements further solidified the commitment to strengthen ties and address global challenges collaboratively.
