At the Munich Security Conference in Germany, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed his country's approval of recent efforts aimed at resolving the Ukraine crisis. He noted that the progress made by the US and Russia in agreeing to commence peace negotiations is a positive step forward, stressing that any conflict must ultimately end at the negotiating table. Wang underscored the belief that history will judge conflicts based on the pursuit of dialogue and justice.
Wang further outlined China's expectations that all stakeholders, including European nations, engage responsibly in the peace process. He highlighted that as the conflict has been unfolding in Europe, there is an even greater necessity for European nations to address the underlying causes of the crisis and contribute to forming a balanced and effective security framework that ensures lasting peace and stability in the region.
The minister also reiterated China's longstanding commitment to resolving international disputes through dialogue and consultation. He referred to President Xi Jinping's four-point proposal, which emphasizes the respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, adherence to the principles of the UN Charter, the consideration of all parties' legitimate security concerns, and support for all peace efforts. China, he explained, has initiated significant mediation efforts through platforms such as the 'Friends for Peace' Group alongside Brazil and other Global South countries, reflecting what he described as an objective, fair, and rational approach in line with international consensus.
Addressing questions regarding China's energy trade with Russia, Wang clarified that China maintains normal economic and trade relations with its neighbor based on shared historical experiences and mutual strategic interests. He argued that importing oil and gas from Russia is essential for China to meet the domestic energy needs of its population, thus underscoring the non-confrontational and pragmatic nature of their comprehensive strategic partnership.

😡 Why is China trying to shift the blame to Europe? Russia is solely responsible for this conflict.

😠 As long as China supports Russia, there can be no true peace in Ukraine.
