Winter Weather to Pummel Eastern US This Weekend
Following this week's storms, more winter weather is set to impact much of the eastern U.S. this weekend, affecting over 100 million Americans. A triple threat of rain, snow, and bitter cold is expected as a storm moves east of the Rockies.
The central Plains will experience the brunt of the storm, with snow, sleet, and drizzle creating slippery driving conditions in Nebraska. Significant snowfall is expected in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions, with three to six inches forecast for Michigan's Grand Rapids area. Areas north of I-69 could see up to eight inches of snow by Sunday night, while the Detroit metropolitan area could receive up to seven inches.
As much as 10 inches of snow could fall in the region through New England this weekend, while sleet and ice will coat the central Appalachians. An icy mix is spreading into the Northeast, with parts of New York City and central Jersey expected to see between a coating and an inch of snow. The East Coast will also experience unseasonably chilly temperatures, with highs in the 30s and 40s due to the polar vortex.
Airline delays are expected in major cities across the northern and eastern U.S., including Minneapolis, Chicago, Albany, Boston, and Detroit. Some flights have already been canceled in Washington D.C. More than 87,000 customers in Virginia remain without power due to the inclement weather.
Severe thunderstorms are possible over the lower Mississippi Valley Saturday, while excessive rainfall may bring flash and river flooding to the mid-Mississippi and Ohio valleys. An impactful flooding event is forecast for the weekend over the Ohio Valley, Tennessee Valley, and parts of the Appalachians. The Ohio River is expected to reach 20 feet early Tuesday morning due to the heavy rain.

I'm glad I stocked up on groceries before the storm hit. I'm all set to stay cozy inside.

I'm worried about the power outages. I don't want to be stuck in the cold without heat.
