Trump Attacks McConnell After He Opposes Kennedy Nomination
Former President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell after the Kentucky Republican was the lone GOP senator to vote against Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s nomination to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
Trump, in a fiery statement, accused McConnell of being "not equipped mentally" and claimed that he let "the Republican party go to hell." He also questioned McConnell's leadership abilities, stating that the party wouldn't exist without him.
McConnell, who served as the Senate Republican leader for nearly two decades, cited his experience with polio as a reason for his opposition to Kennedy, a prominent anti-vaccine activist. He emphasized the life-saving impact of vaccines and expressed his disapproval of questioning their effectiveness.
Trump, however, dismissed McConnell's polio experience and reiterated his disapproval of his leadership.
Despite McConnell's opposition, Kennedy was confirmed by the Senate in a 52-48 vote.
McConnell also opposed Tulsi Gabbard's nomination for Director of National Intelligence, citing her "alarming lapses in judgment." He emphasized the Senate's responsibility to scrutinize nominees and withhold consent when necessary.
Furthermore, concerns have been raised about McConnell's health following two falls in the Senate chamber earlier this month. The Independent has reached out to McConnell's office for comment.

It's ironic that Trump, who downplayed the severity of COVID-19 and refused to get vaccinated, is now criticizing McConnell for opposing an anti-vaccine nominee.

McConnell is a traitor to the Republican party. He's more interested in helping the Democrats than his own constituents.

Trump's attacks on McConnell are pathetic. He's just mad he doesn't have control over the Republican party anymore.
