In Chambers County, Texas, Molly Spears, a language arts teacher, is facing serious legal charges after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a male student at Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu. According to court records, prosecutors claim that Spears solicited the student via text message and an online service, leading to an improper relationship that has now resulted in criminal charges.
Spears, who resigned from her teaching position in June 2023, was previously indicted before eventually self-surrendering to the county jail. Her attorney noted that Spears was only made aware of the charges a couple of days ago, and he expressed uncertainty over why the case had been delayed for so long, emphasizing that the focus should now be on addressing the allegations.
The Barbers Hill Independent School District confirmed her resignation earlier this year, stating that Spears worked for the district from August 2021 until her departure. With bond set at $50,000, Spears faces a lengthy legal process as the investigation and ensuing legal proceedings continue.
