On February 11, Chhattisgarh initiated urban body elections that covered 10 municipal corporations, 49 municipal councils, and 114 Nagar panchayats across the state. With polling starting at 8 am and continuing until 5 pm, approximately 44.74 lakh voters, evenly split between male and female, will participate at 597 polling stations set up by the Election Commission. The vote count is expected on February 15.
The state’s Election Commission had earlier announced that these urban local body elections would take place on February 11, with results following mid-month. In addition, three-phase panchayat elections are scheduled later in February, with staggered voting dates and corresponding result declarations.
Meanwhile, political activity has been intense in the run-up to the elections. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai represented the BJP at events such as the Vijay Sankalp rally in Korba and a roadshow in Raigarh, reinforcing the party’s commitment to advancing development projects and strengthening local governance. His campaign messaging included assurances of effective development under what he described as a progressive "triple-engine government."
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao also voiced strong confidence in the BJP’s preparations for the urban body elections, critiquing the opposition and highlighting planned activities such as workers' conferences across all urban bodies. His remarks underscored an organized effort to mobilize party members, which he believes will lead to a decisive victory for the BJP in the upcoming electoral contests.

Why are we holding panchayat elections in the middle of the summer? It's going to be too hot for people to vote. This is just an excuse to rig the election.

I'm not voting for the BJP because they don't care about the environment. They are only interested in making money, even if it means destroying our planet.

44.74 lakh voters? That's a huge number! How can we be sure that the election results are accurate? Shouldn't there be more scrutiny with so many people voting?

The BJP are using dirty tactics to win this election. They are spreading lies about their opponents and trying to buy votes. We need to stand up to them!
