President Donald Trump's second term in office has begun with positive reviews from Americans, particularly regarding his commitment to campaign promises.
A CBS/YouGov poll conducted between February 5th and 7th surveyed 2,175 U.S. adults and found that 70% of Americans believe Trump is fulfilling his campaign promises, while only 30% believe his agenda has deviated from those promises. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
Trump's overall approval rating stands at 53%, with 47% disapproving. Voters described him with positive attributes, with 69% finding him tough, 63% energetic, 60% focused, and 58% effective.
Americans also approve of Trump's actions on specific issues. 59% approve of his program to deport illegal immigrants, while 64% approve of sending U.S. troops to the U.S.-Mexico border.
Regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, 54% of Americans approve of Trump's handling, while 46% disapprove. However, only 13% believe the U.S. taking over Gaza is a good idea, with 47% finding it a bad idea and 40% unsure.
On economic issues, Trump received lower marks. 66% believe he has not focused enough on lowering inflation, while 31% believe he has focused the right amount and 3% believe he has focused too much.
Opinions on tariffs are divided. 56% approve of tariffs on China, while only 44%, 40%, and 38% feel similarly about tariffs on Mexico, Europe, and Canada, respectively.
