President Donald Trump revoked the security clearances of former Secretary of State Antony Blinken and former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, according to White House officials on Saturday. This decision followed Trump's revocation of former President Joe Biden's security clearance the previous day, which prevented Biden from receiving daily intelligence briefings.
Trump also revoked the security clearances of Lisa Monaco, Biden's Deputy Attorney General who coordinated the Department of Justice's response to the January 6th Capitol attack, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, both of whom led cases against Trump.
While these revocations may not have immediate consequences, they further highlight the growing political divide in Washington. Traditionally, former U.S. presidents receive intelligence briefings to advise incumbent presidents on national security and foreign policy. However, in 2021, Biden revoked Trump's security clearance after he left office.
Last month, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth revoked the personal security detail and security clearance of retired Army general and former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Mark Milley. Milley, who served as the top U.S. military officer during part of Trump's first term, became a vocal critic of Trump after retiring as a four-star general in 2023 during Biden's administration.
Many of Biden's diplomats had collaborated with incoming Trump officials on issues like the Russia-Ukraine war in the weeks leading up to Trump's inauguration on January 20th. Blinken was unavailable for immediate comment.

Finally, a president who's not afraid to stand his ground. He's not going to let these people push him around.

This is just another example of Trump trying to divide the country. He's all about creating chaos and keeping us fighting each other.

He's playing the long game. He knows what he needs to do to win and he's not going to let anything stop him.

This is just more evidence that Trump is a narcissist who is only concerned with his own interests.

This is an attack on our democracy. Trump is trying to undermine the checks and balances that are in place to protect us from tyranny. We must stand up to him and say no!

It's about time! These people have been abusing their positions of power for too long. It's time to hold them accountable.

why is he allowed to maintain his own security clearance if he is such a threat to national security?

This is just another distraction from the fact that Trump is failing as a president. He's trying to take our attention off of the real problems facing the country.
