Debris Hunt Underway as Laser Scanning Aids Collision Investigation

Recovery teams have shifted their focus toward finding smaller pieces of debris after major wreckage, including large fragments of the jetliner and helicopter as well as the remains of all 67 victims, have been retrieved. A plane fitted with laser scanning tools, operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, flew at low altitude over the crash site on the Potomac River to capture detailed images of the riverbed, aiding in the ongoing investigation led by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Officials have confirmed that all significant components of the two aircraft have been found and will be scrutinized for evidence that may indicate the angle of impact during the collision. This detailed examination is a crucial aspect of the investigation into the January 29 incident, the deadliest aviation disaster in the U.S. since the events of November 2001, and will help resolve key questions about the accident.

In addition to the physical investigation, questions are being raised about the operational factors leading to the tragedy. U.S. President Donald Trump pointed to outdated air traffic control technology as a potential cause, while questions about the operational status of the helicopter’s surveillance systems and its altitude at the time of the crash remain under review by investigators.

Trump blaming technology is a joke. He should be looking at the bigger picture, like pilot training and communication issues.

67 people died and all they care about is the angle of impact? Shouldn't they be focusing on preventing future tragedies?

They found the wreckage and the remains but haven't found the cause yet? Seems like a slow investigation.
