Li Qiang Holds Symposium on Government Work, Solicits Feedback

Chinese Premier Li Qiang Holds Symposium on Government Work Report

On Tuesday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang presided over a symposium to gather opinions and suggestions on a draft government work report. Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, listened to representatives from non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation.

The symposium participants acknowledged the extraordinary progress China has made in the past year, with Chinese modernization taking significant strides forward. They offered suggestions for this year's government work, focusing on strengthening macroeconomic regulation, promoting scientific and technological innovation, deepening reform and opening-up, and safeguarding and improving people's livelihoods.

Premier Li expressed his appreciation for the valuable input, stating that the State Council would carefully study and incorporate these suggestions. He emphasized the importance of mobilizing the enthusiasm and initiative of the whole society and effectively addressing new challenges arising from changes in the external environment. Li also stressed the need to resolve prominent issues in economic operations and consolidate the improving economic trend.

Li expressed his hope that non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation would continue their support for the government's work. He encouraged them to conduct in-depth research and actively offer advice on key issues in economic and social development. Additionally, he called on them to further play their role as bridges, strengthening communication and liaison with various fields and industries.

They talk about safeguarding livelihoods, but what about safeguarding human rights and freedoms?

Sounds like more political theater to me. No concrete steps mentioned, just vague goals.

This government is all about control, not progress. They only care about their power, not the people.

Great, more meetings and talk. Meanwhile, the people struggle to make ends meet.

🙄 Another symposium, another set of empty promises. When will the people see real change?

Deepening reform and opening-up? More like deepening the wealth gap and closing the door to outside influence.

The CCP only listens to themselves. These suggestions from non-party members are just for show.

Consolidate the improving economic trend? Whose economy is improving? Certainly not the average citizen.
